“Because the only useful SUV is a dead SUV”

dpslide5[1]The wonderful photoblog, Daily Dose of Imagery posted this rather unsettling image of a bombed out SUV in the middle of downtown Toronto. The display is the work of ATSA, an organization founded in 1997 to create “so-called urban interventions:installations, performances and realistic stagings bearing witness to the various social and environmental aberrations.”

While the focus of this installation is on a responsible automotive industry, you can’t help but be moved by how it addresses the state of the world at large these days. You don’t often come face to face with suicide bombings and terrorist attacks on the passive streets of Toronto. Thankfully.
