Why Is VW In NYC?

by Guy Brighton

Robert Victor wrote to us to tell us his thoughts on a new campaign by VW in NYC:

I know you don’t like to cover campaigns but Josh Spear reminded me this morning of something interesting.

He mentions the new Crispin microsite for VW about the Gypsy Cab driver in the new rabbit. Josh makes an interesting point about
showing people’s thoughts, etc.

What I find really interesting is how this campaign permeates my entire life in New York. I think I originally saw the ad this weekend
on a Flavorpill NYC run-of-site. VW has totally hijacked the city. There are sniped construction dividers up everywhere (even outside my apartment and office), outdoor media on my walk to work, ads on Flavorpill‘, and I am sure much more that I haven’t seen yet.

With all the smart moves that Crispin makes, I wonder why they picked one of the most difficult cities to sell cars to blanket with VW junk.
Shouldn’t they have at least chosen LA?

Nice thoughts Robert!
