Art Direction

by Henry Lambert

Dan of innocent drinks fame asked a very pertinent questions on his blog:

“I hear ‘art direction’ bandied around as a term quite a lot, and I’m pretty sure I understand what it means and what it refers to. But I’ve never sat down and learned about it. It’s not that our innocent stuff looks ugly, but I reckon I should get clued up so that I can pretend I know what I’m on about.”

Fortunatly for Dan and us, Noisy Decent Graphics has once again come to the rescue with a superb definition and explanation of Art Direction:

“To me, art direction is just that - directing the art. Making sure the images you produce are as beautiful, meaningful and rich as you can make them.”

It’s well worth clicking through as NDG has some more explanation and a great anecdote too.
