Airside, the design studio that gave us Lemon Jelly, has been asked by Sony to create the idents for its sponsorship of this years UEFA Champions League. Airside were commisioned by Fallon, who are the agency responsible for the ‘Bouncing Balls’ Bravia commercial, Airside were asked to:

“encapsulate the themes of the tournament along with the idea that Bravia televisions deliver a superior viewing experience.”

The work is very reminiscent of the Sony Playstation idents created for the Champions League a couple of years ago.
Airside’s approach was:

“the idea of a hovering football, which is constructed from a flickering framework of multi-coloured neon tubes that perform patterns of animation like cuttlefish.”
