The magazine is published three times a year and provides illustrators, writers, and commentators a platform from which to take a critical look at trends and developments in the illustrated image.
In each issue, writers from a variety of backgrounds discuss contemporary illustration in its wider context and examine it from different, even contentious, perspectives. In addition, noted illustrators are invited to contribute a visual assay on any subject they choose.

Customers’ Conversations
People that don’t work in marketing probably think that they have pretty brand free lives. They don’t talk about brand onions, or essence or what brands would look like if they were people. They also don’t study every TV ad they see or read all the copy on the ads on their way to work. However, a new research initiative from Arnold Worldwide is attempting to find out just how central brands really are, and in the one place they’ve so far been unable to measure; people’s conversations.
Christmas Mac Ads
It’s the run up to Christmas, and we all know what that means. New Apple ads. Continuing the “I’m a Mac and I’m a PC” series these latest executions are still fun.
Sony Ericsson’s Experience
Brand Strategy report on a new concept store in London from telephone maker Sony Ericsson:
The retail space, following in the footsteps of other mobile players such as Nokia’s statement stores, enables consumers to touch and try Sony Ericsson products and learn more about new features and applications first-hand in a relaxed, fun environment.
Making use of elements such as the mood changing effects of coloured LED lighting, design by Checkland Kindleysides gives the store a sleek but friendly image. “We wanted the design to create a warm and exciting environment that channels emotion into little metal objects,” comments Salvatore D’angelo, Head of Global Retail at Sony Ericsson. “We aim to bring empathy to the consumer with things like lighting features that change colour, a quiet seating area with a cherry wood floor, well trained staff and the freedom to pick up and touch product.”

Aston Martin Offers Blogger Free Ride
When Mike Stopforth wrote about the ride of his dreams, Aston Martin responded by giving him a free day’s drive. Mike says:
Justin Divaris, MD of Aston Martin SA, got in touch with me early the next week via email to thank me for my article (what!?) and offered me the opportunity to drive my dream car for a day. I quickly scanned the email again… “we will arrange for you to spend a day driving an Aston Martin!” Nope, wasn’t seeing things.
Advertising In RSS Feeds
Adotas reports that advertising on blog and other media’s RSS feeds is looking more attractive:
RSS feed management and advertising company FeedBurner has increased its customer base by 300% over the past six months, giving feed advertisers more than enough blog, news and website feeds to play with this holiday season.
FeedBurner services more than 28 million subscribers daily. Commercial blog networks like B5 Media, Federated Media and the Gawker Media network account for “only” six million of them, but still represent the company’s core competency. Other content providers include mainstream news sites, like Reuters, USA Today and Wired News, and independent blogs.
