How To Do Digital… Planning
The ever interesting Iain Tait has written a fantastic post on how to do digital planning. Obviously you need to have the core planning skills that any other planner would need but on top of this Iain points out that some very specific skills are required:
“I wanted to give a perspective on the big question ‘What is a digital planner?’. I know I don’t have the answer. I don’t think anyone does right now. The only thing I know for certain is that there’s a lot of uncertainty around what a digital planner is. I’ve seen lots of CVs and met lots of people. All of them nice people, some of them great planners, some of them not. All of them very very different.”
Iain’s tips are:
1. Be good at cutting and pasting
2. Be able to deconstruct the craft
3. Be able to expand (and contract) to fill the space available
4. Be a good, and patient, educator
5. Be a cyber-optimist and a hyper-cynic
6. Use the forces of geekdom
7. Don’t hate business, it’s your friend
8. Do things, make stuff
9. Be Non-Stick and Wipe-Kleen
10. Love what you do
