Marketer Quits Twitter Because Of Marketing
*SFK friend Jinal Shah writes on her blog about the frustration she has about the marketing of a movie via Twitter. The funny thing is that she recommends that her clients use twitter in their marketing. Jinal says:
I had a weird notification on twitter today.
“Saawariya” is following you.
Saawariya is a movie.
As a marketer, twitter marketing is one of the recommendations we often use for clients but I didn’t expect bollywood movie markters to be so savvy. Only, I quit twitter because of such marketing campaigns destroying the network’s social stock.
We’re not picking on Jinal here because we know that many marketing consultants are trying to flog Twitter to their clients but why are we so keen to get advertising on everything that exists. Why does everything need to have advertising on it?
