Absolut Machines

Absolut gives people the opportunity to interact with machines from around the world over the web. You can get the Absolut Quartet in New York to play for you, the Absolut Choir in Stockholm to sing for you.
Absolut say:
“Marshall McLuhan, a media studies pioneer who forever changed the way we think of communication, once stated that each invention or technology is an extension or selfamputation of our physical bodies. What would happen if machines were creative? Would we end up cutting off our imaginations and becoming creative vegetables? Or could we learn from the creative machines and become more creative? If a machine made art, who would be the artist? The machine or the person who built it? What would happen to the originality and uniqueness of an artwork? What would then constitute as an art work? Will machines one day have loyal fans? Hold art exhibitions? Be sold at auctions for millions of dollars?
“This project is an exploration of artificial creativity and creativity in general. We will probably not come to any general agreements. Instead, we hope to raise a lot of questions. By interacting with either ABSOLUT CHOIR, located in Stockholm, or ABSOLUT QUARTET, located in New York City, and by taking part of all the information on this site, you will be able to experience what it would be like if machines where real creative creatures.”
